HOW DOES VOTING WORK?

Getting your votes has never been easier!

Voting is a fairly straight forward process. It is all to do with the Likes, Comments, and Voting link in our bio. The more votes you get the more chance of winning you have. 

WHAT COUNTS AS A VOTE?

Once you have your nomination flyer posted you will be invited as a collaborator. We do this so that it is easier for you to share directly with your audience on your social feed. Otherwise, your audience would need to come to our socials and find your flyer to vote. That can put people off! 

Be sure to accept the invite to make it easier for your fans. Once you have the flyer all you will need to do is share with your audience and ask them to:

  1. Like the picture itself.
  2. Tag your name in the comments. 
  3. If your audience do not want to do points 1 & 2 then they can use the voting link instead, which is located in our Instagram bio. 

Just before we calculate the results we will go through every single nominee post and count the comments where you have been tagged. Don't worry, if they mentioned your name but it was not tagged it still counts. The only comments that do not count are those that you have replied to, people who have commented multiple times, or those comments that do not mention your name. 

 

Once we have done this and have the total amount of votes we will add the comment total and the total amount of voting from our link together to make the final score. 

How do we combat fake likes, comments, and votes in general?

As with every competition there are always that few that try to cut corners. Our advice is don’t. We have a team who are on our Instagram 24 hours a day across the US, and UK. When the UK close for the day the US takes over. We also use a software which tells us when a surge of automated actions happen on our sites.  

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE HAS BEEN FOUL PLAY?

Unfortunately, there are always going to be individuals that try to test our ability to identify false votes. However, we will know. Just like you know when a post takes off so do we. That said if someone does try to test us we will monitor their post and check randomly their votes. If their votes are fake we will automatically disqualify them without telling them. They will still be able to attend, but they will not win. We will allow them to enjoy their evening but after that years NSMA they will not be allowed to attend any future NSMA in any region indefinitely. It is offensive to those that really try their best to get votes the right way and so we hit hard when we discover fake votes.  

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS A TIE?

We have not had to experience this yet even though it has been close to happening. However, if this was to happen, we would then turn to the brand presenting that category to choose the winner based upon how many times the nominees have posted about the brand. Don’t forget to tag your brand partner!

WHEN DOES THE VOTING STOP?

Voting will run up until 3 days before the NSMA. We will then archive the post before the awards and get ready to announce the winner on the night of the NSMA. We will remove the posts in order of when they were posted. When we remove the posts everyone nominated in each category are removed at the same time. 

At this point our voting link will also be removed and the votes have been casted. All will be revealed on the night live at the National Social Media Awards.

Once the winners have been announced we will begin uploading everything to our Instagram from the night of the NSMA. One month later we will release the nexts years nomination link to the public and start the whole process again.
